This cloth of gold will be a reproduction of 15th century extant textile. These and similar patterns were often used in Italy in 15th century. They are seen especially on the sleeves of noblemen and women. Fine patterns were replaced by bigger ones, mostly with pomegranate motif. Pomegranate was first known from the decorative textiles of Orient and Byzantium, later it was taken over by Italian designers. In general it was considered as symbol of power, but also life and fertility – which is maybe why it became one of the most important symbols of renaissance (from the French word meaning “rebirth”). Other  noticeable elements of 15th century fashion are the golden branches interweaving with flowers that grow into fruits, in this case the pomegranate.
